Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre (HRNC)
PIER holds the contracts with Advanced Education Employment and
Immigration for the HRNC and associated Settlement Advisors. The
HRNC’s mandate is to provide a first stop information and
referral service to immigrant newcomers and promote settlement,
integration and retention in workplaces and communities throughout the
region. The HRNC provides a wide range of services to newcomers
including: Canadian Language Benchmark Assessments, orientation
and information sessions, and phone line interpretation service
facilitation.
The HRNC provides PIER with an effective avenue through which to
address labour shortages. The promotion of settlement, and the
integration and retention of newcomers into workplaces and communities
in the region is proving to be an important service to the
region’s economy.
