PIER has entered into a partnership with Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration (AEEI), and holds the contracts for the Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre.  Both the PIER office and HRNC office are located in Humboldt.

Wes Volk, Industry Liaison
Born and raised in Humboldt, Wes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Land Use and Environmental Studies, as well as a Certificate in Physical Geography from the University of Saskatchewan.  Wes joined the Prairie Innovation Enterprise Region in 2009.  He brings to the organization extensive experience in marketing and project development, as well as considerable knowledge of economic theory.  Wes’s primary responsibility is the Business Capacity Listing; a project focussed on maximizing local participation in major industrial developments.  Other responsibilities include management of the PIER Knowledge Base: a Business Retention and Expansion program that provides the necessary background information for the development of economic development strategies.

Pam Hofmann, Office Administrator
From the region, Pam has been with PIER since December, 2009.  She holds an Office Procedures Certificate and brings twenty-three years of experience with office administration, bookkeeping, sales, sales management and recruiting.  Pam’s current duties include reception, accounting, payroll, records management and meeting facilitation.

Kirsten Chamberlain, Industry Researcher
Arriving in Humboldt four years ago from England, Kirsten brings 9 years of telecom and customer service experience with a range of large companies, retail businesses, and Government bodies in both Canada and the UK. Kirsten has worked in Humboldt for 3 years, which has given her the opportunity to make herself known to the community, and establish working and social relationships. Kirsten’s primary focus is with the Business Capacity Listing (BCL), which enables local businesses to become more involved in major regional developments and an integral part of our region’s growth.

Dan Matthews, Industry Researcher
Born and raised in rural Saskatchewan, Dan is well acquainted with Canada’s fastest growing province, and enjoys the warmth of its culture and lifestyle.  He spent his formative years living in a southeastern Saskatchewan potash mining town, and later made the transition to Regina where he engaged in undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Regina.  Dan has significant sales and marketing experience, and will be using these skills to spread the word on the Business Capacity Listing (BCL).  He looks forward to speaking with the region’s many thriving businesses, and developing a strong working partnership with each.

 

Araba

Araba Quaye, Industry Researcher
A former resident of Saskatchewan, Araba has recently moved back to the province from Alberta where she worked in corporate finance and sales.  Araba possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and brings a wide range of experience to the Industry Researcher position, including research, finance, sales, and corporate administration.  Araba is part of the team putting together the Business Capacity Listing; an initiative focussed on maximizing the involvement of local businesses in regional supply chains.

PIER 17600-057.tifJanine Hart, Manager Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre (HRNC)
Arriving in Saskatchewan three years ago, Janine holds a degree in Therapeutic Play Studies from Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK. Her previous experience includes projects tackling extreme poverty and social exclusion, as well as securing funding for and operating the first therapeutic play facility in a closed women’s prison in the UK. Janine has also lectured on child development and therapeutic play in the UK and with Carlton Trail Regional College. Her current focus is on the continuation of partnership development with community stakeholders, government and community agencies to facilitate access for newcomers while supporting the Centre’s delivery of on-site information, orientation, assessment and referral services.  Janine joined PIER in June of 2009.

Elvircia Natlazo, Information Coordinator (HRNC)
Arriving in Saskatchewan three years ago, Elvircia has a high school education with additional training in Microsoft software and security. Her previous work experience includes administrative assistance, retail sales and client service. Elvircia’s current duties include delivery of on-site information, orientation and referral services for newcomers visiting the Centre.

Jane Meiklejohn – Settlement Advisor (HRNC)
Originally from Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, Jane currently lives in the town of LeRoy. Jane holds a Certificate in Early Childhood and a Certificate as an Educational Assistant. She is currently upgrading her education to a Diploma in Early Childhood.  Jane’s previous experiences include working with children, minority groups and the elderly in a wide variety of settings.  Current duties include one-to-one settlement assistance, improving awareness of the HRNC in the outlying communities, as well as working with these communities to provide events and programming to meet the needs of newcomers.

Amy Kalthoff – Settlement Advisor (HRNC)
Born and raised in Humboldt, Amy has a high school education with extensive business management experience in the hospitality sector.  Amy’s current duties include one to one settlement assistance to newcomers in Humboldt and outlying communities. Amy works with community members and businesses to provide events and develop programming to meet the needs of newcomers.
